It was accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana on July 17, 2008 to operate as a fully fledged University College.
Following this, the Ghana Catholic Bishop’s Conference transferred CIBT to the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra as its legal holder. On the 4th of September 2009 the Archbishop of Accra constituted and inaugurated the first Governing Council. The Institute was affiliated to the University of Ghana in June 2011.
